Hey friends! We recently had the opportunity to photograph Alanna and Daniel’s joyful, colourful, summer wedding at The Alton Mill Arts Centre and let me tell you, it was an absolute dream! The day was filled with joy, and accentuated with a colourful palette of lavender and blue, with stunning florals adding more bold pops of colour. The elegant, garden-like spaces outside the Arts Centre were just stunning, with the reception area surrounded with old stone walls, and capped by a glass and white-tented ceiling, adding such unique touches to the whole day.
Every part of this wedding day perfectly reflected Alanna and Daniel’s exuberant personalities (not to mention that of their little mini, Payton, who more than once stole the show!)! And the details were like art pieces themselves! Both Alanna and Daniel are gifted creatives (jewellery-making and music-making!) and so the Arts Centre was wonderfully suited as the most perfect location for them to exchange their I do’s. From the vibrant florals to the carefully curated decor, every little detail was thoughtfully chosen and perfectly in line with Alanna and Daniel’s vision for their big day. Overall the result was a unique and magical atmosphere, perfectly setting the stage for what we knew would be a beautiful celebration of love.
We had been looking forward to this wedding for weeks, excited to capture the joyful moments and emotive imagery that we know would undoubtedly unfold throughout the day. And having already met up with Alanna, Daniel and Payton earlier in the spring to capture photos for them, we knew we would be in for a totally fun day! As we set up our equipment and began scouting out the perfect locations for Alanna and Daniels’ photographs, we couldn’t help but feel a sense of anticipation and excitement for all that was to come.
As we snapped away through their time spent getting ready, to Payton’s ceremony arrival as flower girl, to Alanna’s emotional walk down the aisle with both of her Dads with Daniel looking on, to the beautiful ceremony under the hand-made arch, we were inspired by the love that radiated from this family of three, that was also evident on the faces of all their guests. From the tender exchange of vows to the lively dancing at the reception, every moment was filled with beauty and joy. The very special Father-Daughter dancing with Daniel and Payton moved me to joyous tears! All their emotion-filled moments throughout the day, shared with their families and friends, including with their fun and lively bridal party, were a dream to capture. I sense that these unforgettable images will be enjoyed over and over again for years to come (in particular, when you scroll to the end you will see Alanna being a very big sport for an amusing request! Ahhh the joy of it all!).
As the day progressed and the festivities continued, we felt like guests too, as we had the pleasure of enjoying one of the most memorable moments of the day. Daniel and his band, made up of relatives and friends, performed a beautiful song for Alanna. I found myself completely immersed behind my lens as I witnessed this groom performing a song for his new bride, and her sentimental reaction to his sweet, sweet gesture, not to mention the reactions of all the guests around them. There was not a dry eye, including mine!
As we packed up our gear and bid farewell to Alanna and Daniel and Payton and their friends and families, we were filled with a sense of gratitude and fulfillment. It was such a pleasure and privilege to be a part of Alanna and Daniel’s special day and to create some truly joyful and tender imagery for them. I can’t wait to see where their journey takes them next! We hope you enjoy the stunning photos below of Alanna and Daniel’s creative, colourful, elegant day!
