We arrived at the picturesque 100-year-old Lookout Point Country Club, a private golf course and the Niagara venue chosen by Colleen & David for their wedding with a sense of excitement and anticipation for the intimate autumn wedding we were about to photograph. The patio, which overlooked sweeping views that included Lake Ontario, Lake Erie and between them Niagara Falls on the horizon was chosen for the ceremony location, and the lookout high up on the hill provided the most breathtaking backdrop for capturing the genuine love and emotion between the soon-to-be newlyweds.
As a photographer who specializes in fine art wedding photography, I was eager to create images for Colleen & David that would be authentic and timeless, and that would reflect their unique personalities. The day was perfect, and the autumn weather cooperated in every sense! As the air was crisp, blankets were given to guests to keep them cozy while they awaited the bride and groom on the patio.
This intimate wedding of close family and friends was indeed a wedding that was ‘all in the family’. Colleen’s mother, a pastor, officiated over the nuptials under a wooden arch adorned with softly coloured florals. And David is the Head Chef at the Country Club. Early in the morning on his wedding day he was in the kitchen, preparing the delicious food that would be served later at dinner! He made sure his guests were well taken-care of! Guests were received for the reception in the warm, wood-timbered McInnis Hall with wood-burning fireplace, lit to keep everyone warm and to keep the nighttime chill outdoors. It was wonderful to meet David’s long-time friends and co-workers, and to capture them as they paused their work to observe (from the sidelines) the first moments when Colleen walked with her father towards David, all the while with smiles on their faces, clearly happy for the couple.
The ceremony was memorable as the bride and groom exchanged their vows overlooking the sweeping views of the golf course. The love and emotion between them was palpable, and we felt privileged to be able to capture such a special and intimate moment. As they looked at one another and recited their vows, we witnessed their joy at starting their lives together as husband and wife.
Throughout the day, we focused on capturing the small details that made the wedding day unique and meaningful. From the delicate lace of the bride’s dress to the heartfelt speeches given by family and friends, every moment was infused with warmth and beauty. As a fine art photographer, I strive to create images that not only document the day but also evoke the emotions and memories associated with it. And don’t even get me started on the art that was their fabulous cake, created by Sweet Celebrations with edible sugared fruit, including gorgeous figs and blueberries! Completely on brand with the elegant vision of the day!
Colleen & David’s intimate autumn wedding at The Lookout Point Country Club was a truly unforgettable experience. The stunning scenery, dreamy florals, combined with the genuine love between the couple, and the elegant atmosphere all came together to create a collection of photographs that captured the essence of the day. We felt extremely honoured to be a part of such a special occasion, and I hope that the images we created will be cherished by Colleen & David for years to come.
