I’ve known Caitlyn for a long time – I have always loved her personality – she is so bubbly, friendly, upbeat, and positive! She brings such a great energy and tonight was no different. It was a real pleasure to get to meet her fiancee Jake for the first time at their engagement session…….while at first he seems quiet and shy, he has a dry sense of humour that kept Caitlyn laughing all night. You can see immediately why their relationship works! Together these two are completely down-to-earth and authentic and being outdoors in a rustic setting suited their vibe perfectly. As they are both pretty crazy busy at work during the summer months, it was great to find a time to schedule their photo session and have some good laughs!
Their rescue dog Donnie (short for Donald Duck) means a lot to them and so it was no surprise that he would join in on the fun and be a part of their photos together. In fact, he made his debut just when the evening light was just glowing! He was extremely well-behaved (a huge thanks also to his dog-handlers, one of whom was Caitlyn’s sister!), who came along with him, kept him occupied when we needed him to be able to move around a bit, and who whisked him away when his time in the spotlight was done!) It made it super easy to start first with Caitlyn and Jake and then add Donnie in.
Caitlyn and Jake’s wedding will be the first that I will photograph in 2022 and I’m already excited for their rustic winter wedding! I have a feeling their photos from their upcoming wedding at @cellar1852 in St. Jacobs are going to be elegant and classic, combined with a whole lot of fun!
We had so many swoon-worthy ‘mini-locations’ to photograph at our location (rustic barn, stunning meadow, wide open fields, sun setting on the calm river) that we just had to use up every last little bit of light available to us! While it will be just a tad chillier when we meet again in February of 2022 to photograph their wedding, I am so glad that we got this perfect night…….and I know the laughs will keep us all warm!
