This one is truly a story within a story within another story……….it all started with an impromptu group of vendors. Hannah, from @thesaolproject has a beautiful spot for her flower farm with the most charming greenhouse surrounded by fields and situated on a hill. On the day of this shoot, she reached out to see if other vendors were interested in a styled shoot with her greenhouse as both backdrop and centre piece. With an elegant and classic design, complete with black accents, a beautiful hanging floral installation of greenery and curly willow branches, geometric orbs housing candles, sophisticated linens & place settings, and a predominantly white and green floral palette, this greenhouse setting is the perfect space to share a romantic dinner with your love! It didn’t take long for us to jump right in and help make this dreamy design concept come to life!
Only none of us knew at the time that we were about to get thwarted along the way. The day of the shoot called for rain and high winds but we were all determined to make the best of it! Everything was set up, hair and makeup in place and our couple came together for their ‘first look’. It was only a matter of minutes before the rain, which had been coming down steadily, and the winds which were picking up, showed us the true force of nature. We realized quickly that we might be in tornado-territory on this day! We all took cover inside (thank you Hannah!) to wait out the storm, fearing that we might all be like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, and that being inside a glass greenhouse might not be the best idea.
And yet you’d never know it from these gorgeous pictures of the day! That’s because, just as quickly as the rain had pelted down and started to look like a hailstorm, and the winds reached their peak, it all settled down, the sun broke through the clouds, and we were treated to pure magic in Hannah’s greenhouse! Our persistence paid off. We were elated to be able to capture the details, both big and small of the wonderful collaboration that resulted when a group of vendors came together, in the same quick whirlwind way that nature had on that same day! I can’t get enough of the stunning work of these fabulous wedding vendors (check out the list of each of the vendors and their contributions at the end of the blog!) Spontaneous and creative, the nature of this styled shoot and how we came together seemed identical to the nature of the day! Which truly makes for a good story within a story within a story.
(And if you look really closely you’ll see that on either side of that glorious sun peaking through the glass of the greenhouse, we were treated to another storm on its heels…….and had to work OUR magic pretty quickly! Can you guess which photos were taken when the next storm was rolling in?).
