June 30, 2021
Deanna and Colton’s story will sound familiar to many of you who introduced precious little bundles of joy into this world in either 2020 or 2021. We had planned to do Deanna and Colton’s maternity photos in February or March of 2021 but that got cancelled because of the provincial lockdown. We thought for sure we would be able to do their newborn photos in April or May, but no luck there either as the lockdown continued, to everyone’s dismay, and plans had to be changed, and then changed, and then changed again! So it was with great joy that I was able to meet up with them on a hot summer night at the end of June to take Emersyn’s 3 month photos in the park and to celebrate her introduction to the world!
And what a sweetie pie she is, little Miss Emersyn Dawn Horbay-Gagnon! Peacefully sleeping on arrival to the park, she woke herself gently when a warm breeze happened to pass her way. And while she was perhaps a little bewildered to be with her parents taking photos in the park, we ended up coaxing the most beautiful (if ever so fleeting!) smile from her, to the delight of both this photographer and her parents. She was very cooperative for a few outfit changes and didn’t complain with the warm blankets (although she did appear most contented without clothes, and when right down to her diaper – did I mention it was a really hot summer night?).
I first met Deanna in May of 2019 when she was maid of honour for her friend Tessa, at Tessa and John’s wedding in Niagara on the Lake. Later that same year, I was excited when Deanna emailed me and asked if I would be her wedding photographer! I would meet Colton for the first time when I captured Deanna and Colton’s stunning engagement photos at sunset on the beach in Port Burwell last August (https://lisarivardphotography.com/port-burwell-ontario-golden-hour-engagement-session/). The beach location couldn’t have been more suitable for their laid-back personalities and it was great fun! At the end of our session, we made sure to capture a cute little one-sie for the Horbay-Gagnon baby on the way (even though the surprise would be revealed months later)!
I love nothing more than capturing memories for sweet families like Deanna and Colton’s as they grow and move through the new and exciting chapters of their life. And it has been such fun to see Deanna and Colton adapt so easily to their new roles as parents! The last time I took their photos (almost 2 years ago!) they were just recently engaged and now their family has grown with the addition of one more wonderful little member. I can’t wait to photograph their wedding in 2022 with little Emersyn in tow! She will make one adorable little flower girl!! Thank you Deanna and Colton for the privilege of documenting your memories…..especially when you have waited so long to officially introduce your little Emersyn, and the photos are months in the making!
